In a surprise move, Disney and Charter have expanded their 2023 carriage agreement to bring Hulu’s ad-supported tier to Spectrum TV and restore eight previously dropped cable channels. In 2023, Disney’s channels like ESPN and ABC were pulled from Spectrum after a standoff over bundling streaming services. The eventual deal added Disney+ and ESPN+ to Spectrum, but dropped channels like Freeform, FXX, and Nat Geo Wild. The new deal reverses that, returning eight channels to Spectrum’s lineup, adds Hulu later this summer, and includes access to ESPN’s upcoming standalone streaming service this fall.

Anna Wintour is stepping down as editor in chief of Vogue as the magazine begins its search for a new U.S. editorial lead. However, she’ll remain Condé Nast’s chief content officer and global editorial director of Vogue, continuing to oversee the brand’s international output and all Condé Nast editorial titles except The New Yorker. By bringing on a new head of U.S. editorial for Vogue, Wintour will be able to spend more time managing the brand’s global output, as well as the other Condé Nast publications.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s plan to bring Hollywood productions back to the state cleared a major hurdle Friday, as a budget bill expanding the state’s film and TV tax credit program passed both houses of the legislature. The bill boosts annual incentives from $330 million to $750 million, putting California just behind New York and Georgia in generosity. However, industry advocates are rushing to finalize key changes — including raising the base credit to 35% — before the July 7 application deadline. The bill also broadens eligibility to include shorter TV shows, sitcoms, animated projects, and large-scale competition shows (excluding reality, game, talk, and documentary programs), and removes a requirement that soundstage incentives only go to owners or long-term leaseholders.
